About RJ Alvarez

Around noon on October 15th, 1981, RJ Alvarez was born to a couple in Miami, Florida. His father was a deaf mute who had talented carpenter’s hands and a weakness to alcohol. His mother was a black widow of a partially deaf woman who would end up killing more than 5 men within the course of her lifetime. Due to the unfortunate death of his father, and the uncaring abandonment of his mother, this young child ended up spending most of his life in the care of his Grandparents.

Around the age of 14, RJ discovered his gifted skill of fiction, and the fact that he was clinically depressed from a young age. His skill grew into many other aspects of writing. Slowly, he learned to write poetry, reviews, and even articles. It was at the age of 16, when his talents peaked, that this talented boy decided that he would use his skills for the pursuit of a book deal. Now, 26, and living in the unforgiving city of New York, a young adult attempts to make his dream come true while barely making his rent payments.
Will he make it in the big city, or will he be too far into debt to make it out with all his body parts? Only time will tell...

Writing history

Ricky Alvarez has been writing fiction since his second year of middle school in 1994. He discovered his love of writing while playing in a Star Trek Sim online. After the weekly chat room session, all members were encouraged to e-mail the rest of the group a Log Entry, to make the game more realistic. From his first Log, he got many compliments on his writing style and skill. The person who ran the sim told Ricky that he should be writing for Paramount with his skills.

Shortly after that, Ricky entered High School, where he was completely engrossed in his Language Arts class. He couldn't believe how much he liked writing poetry and short fiction. This led up to a Halloween Story Contest. Ricky entered and helped his friend out with his entry. Both pieces made it to the top three. Ricky's entry titled "Eternal Love" was number three, while his friend's entry got to second place.

This opened up Ricky to the possibility of becoming a professional writer. He entered his poem, "The Sleepless Night" into Poetry.com's contest. He got the poem published three times and got nominated multiple times for Poet of the Year. A few other poems also got published through Poetry.com including "Sweet Princess of the Moon" and "October."

Most currently, Ricky had entered the National Novel Writing Month competition, where he accomplished writing a 50,000 word novel within the month of November. A large accomplishment after the time off he had taken from writing.

Now, Ricky is working on multiple short stories to enter into contest and revising his NaNoWriMo novel to attempt to publish it...
